Cuban boy on bike
This image emerged from my aversion to following a guide’s itinerary.
While guided tours are often the best way to explore a foreign city, especially when you don’t speak the local language, I prefer to avoid feeling like part of a herd.
In Havana, Cuba, the tour bus stopped at a typical “tourist trap”—a cigar shop. Uninterested in purchasing cigars, I decided to step away from the group and explore the street. There, I discovered this scene and others that capture the everyday lives of real Cubans.
