Stories can be told through words, video clips, or photographs. However, I believe photographs have a unique power to reveal societal issues. While video can be impactful, it often requires electronic devices and presents its message in fleeting moments. Photography, by contrast, is timeless; it allows viewers to pause and reflect on an image at their own pace, giving its message a lasting presence.
Just because those less fortunate are often overlooked or deemed less significant compared to those driving luxury cars or flaunting the latest fashion, it doesn’t mean their lives should be ignored. We tend to brush aside the downtrodden, perhaps because they remind us of our own vulnerability and the truth that, but for the grace of God, it could be us.
